As a lifelong A/V nerd, I was always kind of an “indoor kid.” But in 2022 our community built a new arena for a pro hockey team and Heather and I started going to games for fun. Well, the games were really fun. So we then went ice skating…then took some lessons…then took some Learn to Play classes. And well, it kinda escalated from there. Through the entire year of 2023 I was as the rink at least 4-5 days a week working on skating and hockey skills, and the love of the game has only grown since.

I ended up becoming absolutely obsessed with the goalie position, which I started learning in the summer of 2023 and have helped form 3 different coed adult league teams. Hockey has taught me so much. It’s given me friends, fitness, and mental fortitude/perspectives that have turned out to be helpful in all aspects of life (are you telling me that the YouTube comment section isn’t sometimes like getting peppered with pucks at 80mph?!).
